Frequently asked questions

What is the designer responsible for?

---

The designer is responsible for the cosmetic design of your project; the vision for the look and feel of your space. We will work with you (per our agreement) to plan the spatial layout, select materials and finishes, and purchase furniture and fixtures to fill the finished space. Pending the terms of our agreement and your preferences, we will correspond with your contractor and/or architect to discuss feasibility of our design plans, always including you in those conversations. The contractor will be responsible for managing your project and implementing of design plans.

Can I buy something that you do not source?

---

Whenever possible, it is best for us to settle on a complete design plan and agree on all pieces prior to purchasing. This will help us to achieve a cohesive look and feel within your space. In the event that you purchase something without our collaboration, please note that we cannot guarantee the pieces’ physical or aesthetic fit within the completed space.

Do you work with other trade professionals?

---

We will make our best effort to communicate effectively with your GC and trade members as needed. That said, we cannot hire or manage other trade professionals on your behalf.

What are freight and delivery fees?

---

Freight and delivery fees pertain to purchasing furnishings, fabrics and other accessories. These are shipping and handling fees, and are the responsibility of the client. Freight charges are calculated by weight and distance to destination. A receiving warehouse is often required in order to transfer goods from the to-the-trade retailer to the client’s final destination. Receiving warehouse fees are the responsibility of the client. These costs and fees will be discussed and approved prior to purchasing. Please account for these additional fees when budgeting for your project.

What does “scope of work” mean?

---

Scope of work is the work that we, as your designers, have agreed to complete. This scope is outlined in your proposal and contract. It is the work that we know is expected from us and the work that we intend to complete. If additional needs arise that are outside of the agreed upon scope of work, please advise us so that we can propose an addendum to our agreement.
