Regal Dining

A dining room suited for royalty

All set and ready to go…

Incorporating a bit of mid-century inspired furniture and lighting, and decorating with careful splashes of color gave the home a fresh and present feel.

Purple, Purple, Purple.

The dining area in this 1930's home was begging for a makeover. Wainscotting and a touch of royal purple wall paint brought the space back to life. These updates integrated perfectly with the existing mahogany trim and cove ceiling to restore the home and recall its inherent grandeur.

Earthy Kitchen

Earthy Kitchen

Simply stunning.

The objectives in renovating this kitchen were to create an updated, clean and open look and feel, and a highly functional space for daily family use and entertaining. We aimed to create a layout which would encourage an obvious flow between the kitchen, dining and living areas in the home, and allow the previously segmented spaces to feel unified with one another.

2018-07-SiennaAndSage_RedmondHome_0741.jpg

The approach:

By removing a wall which previously separated the dining and living spaces, opening and redesigning the staircase, updating the fireplace, and reconfiguring the kitchen layout were able to create a natural flow throughout the first floor in this home. Utilizing every square inch to our advantage, we carved out a walk-in pantry beneath the staircase. The selection of finishes and fixtures focused on a clean and uncluttered aesthetic.

Before & After

The removal of a wall between the dining area and kitchen opened up the space and brightened it dramatically. Adding both in- and under-cabinet lighting in the dining area gave a little extra sparkle and created a visual separation between kitchen and dining.

One Great Room

One Great Room

One Great room

A warm and inviting living room

2018-06-Sienna&Sage_BallardHome_0256.jpg

From cold to cozy.

When we first walked into this living room it felt dark and cold. With the original light fixtures still in place, dimpled walls and an aztec stone fireplace, the room called for a bit of love. We smoothed the walls out, painted, updated lighting, and perhaps most significantly designed a new fireplace surround which ties into the beautiful  mahogany built-ins already in place. Furnishing with a mix of colors and textures put the perfect finishing touches on what is now a warm and cozy place to read a good book.

Eclectic & Unique

This kitchen renovation was all about change. Noting a desire to retain this kitchen's cabinetry, hand constructed by a previous home-owner, Sienna & Sage Interior Design worked within the existing footprint to provide major updates and modifications to the space. Catering to a designer for an eclectic and unique design, we implemented a mixture of texture and pattern to create a varied but unified finished product. A fresh coat of paint gave the cabinetry new life, while white countertops and tile backsplash brighten the space tremendously and lend to it's vastly open feel. Wallpaper adds a sense of adventure, and carries the design around the corner to a back area, repurposed to serve as a mini-mudroom.

Peaceful & True To Form

This black and white bathroom pays homage to the era of its home. With very limited square footage and little room to expand, the key here was to maximize on the opportunity to use each and every corner of the space. Borrowing closet space from an adjacent bedroom, allowed for the addition of a shower in what was previously an unusable half bath. Carving a nook inside the shower created space for a useful toiletry ledge inside the shower, and wood storage shelving on its exterior. White walls and floors flood the space with light, while black highlights and motifs and hexagonal shapes call to mind the original era of the home. A floated toilet and vanity serve as space savers and offer storage and easy maintenance. An exposed rain shower head, paired with ample lighting options, offers a true spa oasis.

A CLASSIC COFFEE SHOP

AN INDEPENDENT COFFEE HUB, BUILT BY A PHENOMENAL FATHER-SON TEAM

Genuine & Approachable

For this independent coffee shop, very near to our hearts, we developed a concept of “approachable masculinity," a notion inspired by the brains behind the operation; a wonderful father and son duo. We utilized a balance of light/dark, and soft/hard to create a space that is attractive, functional, and experientially represents the minds and hearts of its owners.

Tile Motif

The tile display behind the counter is an abstract representation of the shop's logo; the Hawthorn tree. This tree holds deep meaning to the owners of Hawthorn coffee. In recreating it at large as a backdrop design we were able to honor that sentiment. Using subway tile to create this motif allowed us to hold true to the classic aesthetic of the shop.

Global Coffee Counter

May 25, 2016

"Though the door and entryway may be the obvious focal point, the tall, bright backdrop behind the counter—mosaically littered with cement gray and pearl white tiles—is beautiful too... This balance works, because guess what’s in-between these two beauties: the seating area. This buildout induces a full-fledged focused atmosphere, perfect for that productive coffee shop that everyone needs. And with eight, two-person tables, you can almost always find a seat here."

The Guardian

September 16, 2016

" The minimalistic, geometric interior of Hawthorn with its simple wall tiles, wooden tables for two and a distinctive counter, in turn, resembles the inside of Holsem Coffee and Coffee and Tea Collective, two widely-known North Park coffee shops. The simplicity of this shop on Adams, however, is free of the aesthetic snobbism and unsettling emptiness that make you feel foreign at other third-wave coffee shops."

Clean & Upscale

Newly independent business owners of Noland Clark Salon were looking for a perfect space for their boutique hair salon to call "home." Wanting to create a feeling of warmth and comfort in their cozy salon, they hired Sienna & Sage to pull the space together and optimize its functionality.

Logo Design

To complete the design of the Noland Clark Salon, Sienna & Sage designed a logo, well suited for the new brand, which is now displayed prominently throughout the salon and on the duo's print materials.

Chic City Condo

An elegant home for art connoisseurs

CONCEPTUAL DESIGN WORK,  ASID DESIGN AWARD WINNER, 2016

Contrasting traditional galleries, where art is to be observed and discussed, Imprint gallery aims to create a setting where art can be fully experienced. Select areas of the gallery showcase artwork on an antiqued mirror backdrop, showing the viewer a side-by-side visual of artwork and a subtle imprint of self. This juxtaposition communicates the gallery's desired effect to transport the viewer to another place.

The fundamental aesthetics in the residence are streamlined and uncluttered - yet the decorative elements in the space draw on a more nostalgic sentiment. The Client’s love of neoclassical design is honored with sprinklings of brass, antiqued mirror, and noticeable symmetry throughout the residence.

A Hub for introverts

A SOPHISTICATED, ARTFUL DESIGN FOR ELEGANT LIVING

Conceptual design work

By contemporary definition, an introvert is someone who derives energy from calm, reflective environments, and deep conversation with a close friend or intimate group. In-Side is a recreation and respite hub for introverts; a place where introverts can comfortably exist and engage without depleting their energy. This hub offers a variety of experiences and physical spaces to maximize the introvert's opportunity to extract positive, healthful energy from the surrounding space. In addition, the physical space is designed to rectify the world's perception of the introvert. Aesthetics, mainly color, embolden the deepest niches of the space, demonstrating that introverts hold in the hidden retreats of their brains a deep and genuine thoughtfulness.
